A New Level Tennis Academy Coach

A New Level Coach: A New Level Tennis Academy coach Danny Sousa is Coffs Harbour’s highest level performing coach and one of Australia’s best. Check his achievements and qualifications.

Qualifications / Achievements:

QUALIFICATION SECTION
Qualifications: Danny Sousa is a Club Professional Qualified Coach with Tennis Australia. He is currently completing his High Performance Qualification with Tennis Australia which is the highest level of tennis coach qualifications in the world. Danny has over 20 years coaching and international travelling experience.

The Tennis Australia High Performance Course requires Danny to have knowledge of psychology, bio mechanics, technique, fitness training, diet, tournament planning, tactics and more.

To maintain his qualifications Danny has to continually update his knowledge of new coaching methods and regularly update his First Aid Certificate and Child Protection Checks. Danny is also required to keep up to date Liability Insurance.

Danny also continually travels Australia and the world to keep informed of how the game is changing and what the best players and coaches are doing. See the story on the trip to Spain.

ACHIEVMENTS SECTION

New Level Achievements:

• Danny is the only local coach to have produced and trained a local player that has achieved a world ranking. Danny coached Chanel Cunningham from a beginner at 7 years of age to an ITF world ranking of around 1300. Chanel competed in many ITF world ranking events and now is playing College Tennis in the USA.
  
  
• Bryce Cunningham (also coached by Danny Sousa) was the first locally trained player to qualify for an ITF (International Tennis Federation) World Ranking event and was on track to have a great tennis career until a serious car accident ended his playing career. Bryce has been trained as a coach by Danny Sousa and has become a well respected and talented coach in Miami, USA. Bryce was the youngest ever Director of Coaching at the Cliff Drysdale Tennis School in Miami.  
  
  
• Danny has trained many top national and regional players with his next goal to produce a top 100 world ranked player. Most of all he wants to help all players that he works with achieve their maximum potential.   Chanel Cunningham: ITF world junior world ranking, number 1 in region, Regional Representative, currently playing College Tennis Georgia, USA. Level 1 coach.
• William Berrigan: One of the top couple of players in Australia for his age. Danny has helped Will tactically and technically. Will has represented NSW and toured Spain with Danny in June of 2009.
• Luczia Bain: Top 5 in Australia for age, Champion of Champions winner. State Classic finals runner up and finalist. Semi finals National titles.Number 1 in region. Regional Representative. Luczia was on track to become a pro but was also one of Australia’s best violinists. Currently a successful Violinist and Music Teacher in Sydney.
• Harrison Lombe: Harry works with Danny and a team of coaches. Harrison has reached the top 10 in Australia for his age and toured Spain with Danny in 2009. Harrison has played Spanish Futures Events and continues to move up the rankings fast. Harry lists training with Nadal’s coach Francis Roig as one of his tennis highlights. Harry has won the doubles at the ANZ Forster OJT and has made the Opens Semi Finals at the Coffs Harbour Open.
• Bryce Cunningham: Regional Representative. ITF qualifying. Level 2 coach, Currently Head coach Miami USA.
• Rhys Beccaris: Rhys has been one of the top players in Australia for his age for several years. Currently Rhys sits inside the top 20 Nationally, the top 10 in the state for his age. Rhys has won dozens of tournaments. Last year his wins included the ANZ Forster OJT Tournament singles and doubles, the Nepean Junior Open and the Wollongong Junior Open. 
• Callum Neal: Number 1 in region, State Classic Semi finalist. Regional Representative. Cal worked with Danny for many years, improved his ranking and technique greatly and toured Spain with Danny in 2009.
• Alek McKenzie: Finished number 1 in Region (Northern NSW), Regional Representative. Champion of Champions Qualifier.
